The Smith Family Ranch is a small, working horse ranch in southwestern Montana. Its operation is tailored to enable families, couples, and small groups to experience Yellowstone and Montana's "Big Sky" areas on a small scale. If you would rather not be herded around a big guest ranch, come stay with us!

We are Laurie and Vern Smith. With the help of our children, we host Paradise Valley Vacations, and also raise registered American Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses. Some of them are shown below. Some of our horses out for a run

For 15 years Vern was a professional outfitter and a member of the Montana Outfitters and Guides Association. Until 1988 we ran a backcountry, wilderness camp on the border of Yellowstone Park. Then we spent five years managing the equestrian program for one of the top-rated guest ranches in the United States.

In 1993 we decided it was time to think small, and took our skills and growing family to our own piece of Paradise Valley, on the Yellowstone River, just 17 miles north of Yellowstone Park. In addition to riding and training facilities, our guest house provides comfortable accommodations for families, couples, and small groups.

Obviously, horses are easily accommodated. We also provide indoor and outdoor kennels for dogs. Well behaved pets are welcome to stay with you in the guest house.
